Dead Gentlemen Productions Announces Development of Feature Film The Gamers: 2nd Edition
Dead Gentlemen Productions, LLC unveiled the official website December 11 for their new feature film currently in development: The Gamers: 2nd Edition. The website, www.the-gamers.com, features a downloadable teaser and comprehensive production information.
The film is slated to begin filming in the western Washington region in summer 2004. The direct-to-video release is projected for domestic and international distribution in early 2005. Screening of the film will be held at fantasy, science fiction, and role-playing conventions around the world.
While The Gamers: 2nd Edition employs the same concept as the company’s internationally successful short film, The Gamers, the script features new characters and gaming archetypes.
The original short The Gamers boasted unprecedented sales and critical acclaim within the fantasy and role-playing community worldwide. The Hawaii International Film Festival said, “Given its shoestring budget, The Gamers is better than Lord of the Rings”.
The movie’s surprising popularity prompted Dead Gentlemen Productions to begin development of the longer 2nd Edition.
