More “Gamers” for You!

The following message went out today to some of our ardent (and persistent!) fans. Now, the rest of you have a chance to read it.

Many of you have asked the same quesion: how and when can I get a copy of “Gamers”?

Some of you went a step farther and asked “Can I arrange a screening in my area?”

Here are the answers to your questions.

Yes, you can get a copy of “Gamers”. No, you can’t get it yet. This is for a few reasons. First, we need to add a couple of important sound effects to the final mix. Second, the film still needs premieres in a couple of important areas before we let it start circulating. Third, we need to pull together enough capital to make a really great VHS tape and full-color slipcase. That money will (hopefully) come from public screenings in the Pacific Northwest where people will actually have to pay to get in the door. And that takes time.

Frankly, we’ve been amazed by the response to this film. Post-production was wrought with technical problems that had to be cleaned up. Somewhere along the line we forgot that it was such a good movie. This past weeked, however, emphatically reminded us of the fact. On Saturday I had my first chance to watch the movie with a virgin audience. It was a very gratifying experience to hear a house full of people laughing in all the right places. The good news is that the event gave me a good sense of urgency about getting little baby copies of “Gamers” ready to send out into the world.

How can you help us help you get your very own copies? First, don’t forget us! It could be three months before we’re ready to do a video release, but that doesn’t mean that we aren’t drooling over the thought of you buying our stuff. Second, think about doing your own “Gamers” screening in your area of the world. If those thoughts come out happy, excited, and just a little bit geeky, write to me directly and we’ll see what we can set up. Third, let us know if you come up with a brilliant idea for getting “Gamers” out there into the world. We’re not the savviest business people here (we studied film instead!) so there may be avenues for screening and distribution that we haven’t even thought of. Finally, don’t hesitate to log onto our forums at www.deadgentlemen.com. They’re a great place to read “Gamers” production diaries, meet the cast and crew, and to talk about crappy poetry, slapfights, and other random nonsense. You can also hassle us there about why you don’t have a copy of “Gamers” yet.

I hope I’ve answered your questions!

Peace to ya’ll from everyone at DG Productions
