Matt Vancil
Head Writer
Matt is one of the original five members of Dead Gentlemen, and is a founding member of both the production company and its improv comedy troupe. A lifelong storyteller, Matt has been writing screenplays for Dead Gentlemen since 1998. In addition to his work with the company, Matt has written several contracted screenplays for regional filmmakers, and has taught filmmaking at the high school and college levels.
Matt graduated from Pacific Lutheran University in 2001 with a Bachelor of Arts with majors in Writing and Classics, a minor in Publishing and Printing Arts, and a Special Distinction in Children’s Literature. Matt’s short film “The Gamers,” which has become a staple of fantasy gaming conventions worldwide, won the 2003 GenCon Film Festival and was nominated for Best Short in the 2004 B-Movie Awards.
As Head Writer, Matt is responsible for developing stories and scripts with the Dead Gentlemen Development Team and writing screenplays for future Dead Gentlemen productions.
Matt lives with his wife, Camille, in Los Angeles where he is currently studying screenwriting at the prestigious American Film Institute.
